Lisa Goffman<\/a> serves as Co-Chair (with Fan-Gang Zheng) of the NIDCD Advisory Council Working Group on Diversity and Inclusiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colleen Le Prell<\/a> began a four year term as a Member of the Auditory System Study Section in the National Institute of Health Center for Scientific Review in Fall 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UTD Larynx Lab student Sarah McDowell wins “Best Student Oral Presentation” at the Pan-American Vocology Association (mentor, Adrianna Shembel).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UTD Social Communication Lab student Adrienne De Froy received the 2022, Phi Kappa Phi Love of Learning Award ($500) (mentor, Pam Rollins).  The awards help fund post-baccalaureate professional development for active Phi Kappa Phi members to include (but not be limited to): Graduate or professional studies, doctoral dissertations, continuing education, career development, travel related to teaching\/research\/learning, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UTD Noise Lab student AuD\/PhD Allison Woodford received a $10,000 grant from the American Academy of Audiology Music and Hearing Research Grant<\/a> program for her 2021 grant titled \u201cUse of In-Ear Dosimetry to Understand Musicians\u2019 Unique Sound Exposure (MUSE),\u201d (mentor Colleen Le Prell).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UTD Noise Lab student AuD\/PhD Conner Jansen received a $10,000 grant from the American Academy of Audiology Music and Hearing Research Grant<\/a> program for his 2022 grant titled \u201cMusic Quality Rating of Electronic and Custom Musician\u2019s Hearing Protection Devices,\u201d (mentor Colleen Le Prell).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UTD Noise Lab AuD\/PhD student Conner Jansen received a National Hearing Conservation Association Scholarship Foundation Student Conference Award ($800, mentor Colleen Le Prell).   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

UTD SLP MS students Nicole Peters (Softball) and Jordan Rudd (Women\u2019s Basketball) were selected for participation in Distinguished Scholar Athletes Teams awards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2nd-year AuD student, Chelsea Koach, was featured in the Dallas Audiology Society Student Bulletin for her work in Kelly Jahn\u2019s lab, where she is exploring clinical practices surrounding the audiological diagnosis and management of hyperacusis<\/p>\n\n\n\n

High school student, Vaishnavi Moturi, completed the NanoExplorers program in Kelly Jahn\u2019s lab this summer and she was featured in the latest issue of the UT Dallas Magazine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UTD AuD student Traci Brinkley was awarded an \u201cImproving the Conversation\u201d Scholarship from the American Academy of Audiology Foundation in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UTD PhD student Celia Escabi was awarded the \u201cJames Jerger Award for Excellence in Student Research\u201d from the American Academy of Audiology Foundation for her poster, \u201cEffects of Selective Inner Hair Cell Loss on Suprathreshold Auditory Brainstem Response Amplitudes\u201d (category: research; mentor, Ed Lobarinas) presented at the 2021 conference of the American Academy of Audiology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UTD AuD student Lily Rollins was awarded the \u201cJames Jerger Award for Excellence in Student Research\u201d from the American Academy of Audiology Foundation for her poster \u201cEvaluation of Factors Affecting Audiologists Perception of Professional Autonomy\u201d (category: Legal, Ethical, and Professional Issues; mentor, Carol Cokely) presented at the 2021 conference of the American Academy of Audiology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UTD PhD student Natalia Camacho received an ASHA Meritorious Poster Award for her poster, \u201cCamacho, N., & Rojas, R. (2021, November) Comparison of two English-Spanish language screeners: BESOS and QUILS:ES,\u201d presented as a Virtual Research Poster at the 2021 Annual Convention of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Washington D.C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UTD PhD student Kate Kreidler received an NIH Student Travel Award for attending the 42nd Annual Symposium on Research in Child Language Disorders (SRCLD) in 2022, where she presented her poster, \u201cKreidler, K. & Goffman, L. (2022, June). Sustained deficits in prosodic organization in children with developmental language disorder\u201d ($700, mentor Lisa Goffman).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
