Camp CHAT (Communication Habilitation via Audition for Teens)<\/h2>\n

Camp CHAT is a weekend retreat for teens with hearing loss and their families. Campers will engage in communication activities using the latest digital wireless microphones and technology. Depending on the camp location, campers will also have the opportunity to participate in challenge games, putt-putt golf, team building, horseback riding, new friendships, crafts, hammock relaxing and campfire excitement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Camp is conducted by a licensed audiologist with the support of graduate student clinicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cost:<\/strong> Submit registration prior to April 1 with $20 deposit per person to reserve a place. If paid in full by April 1, registration fee is only $200 for one teen and one parent and $50 for each additional parent\/teen. Deposits will be applied to registration fees. After April 1, registration fee is $225 per parent\/teen and $60 for each additional parent\/teen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The University of Texas at Dallas Department of Speech, Language and Hearing will not take custodial responsibility of minors while participating in Camp CHAT. Custodial responsibility will remain with parents, legal guardians and chaperones.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

Camp Interact<\/h2>\n

Camp Interact is a weeklong therapeutic day camp for children entering 2nd – 6th grades with social skill difficulties. Children may have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, social communication disorder, nonverbal learning disorder and\/or mild language impairments. The day includes a lesson time, drama, team building, funshops and special activities. Camp is supervised by licensed speech-language pathologists and supported by graduate student clinicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evaluation Requirement: <\/strong>An intake assessment is required for all new campers. The cost of the intake is $50 and is not insurance eligible. The intake assessments are held at the Callier Center in Dallas, 1966 Inwood Road, on Monday through Thursday based on schedule availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer Language Camp<\/h2>\n

Summer Language Camp is a 6-week language therapy program for children with language and learning disorders. This camp will focus on reading and listening comprehension, vocabulary development and narrative language development. It is best if campers are fluent readers in order to participate in activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our goal is to provide a fun learning environment to build children\u2019s language skills. Activities will center around a chapter book and focus on teaching language strategies to improve academic success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The camp is staffed by UT Dallas graduate students under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enrollment Instructions:<\/strong>  30-minute intake session must be scheduled. The cost of the intake is $50 and is not insurance eligible. If your child has had speech-language services within the past year, current language goals and recent language testing will be reviewed to determine eligibility for camp. If your child has not had speech-language services within the past year, short testing\/assessments will be given to determine eligibility for camp. Summer Listening Camp<\/h2>\n

The annual Summer Listening Camp is a week-long, day camp for children with hearing differences that use hearing technology such as hearing aids or cochlear implants. Typical camp activities such as arts and crafts, music and relay races are used to facilitate the child\u2019s development of speech, language, listening and social skills. The camp is staffed with UT Dallas graduate students in speech pathology and audiology and supervised by licensed speech pathologists and audiologists.<\/p>\n\n\n

Summer Listening Camp serves children ages 4 to 11. Audiologists, speech-language pathologists and graduate students provide listening and speech-language therapy that is tailored to each child\u2019s individual goals. Therapy is woven throughout each activity including rock wall climbing, fishing, music and dance, arts and crafts and water play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
