The nationally recognized UT Dallas Callier Center for Communication
Disorders has provided group and individual therapy for patients and families
touched by autism for more than 30 years.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) – sometimes referred to as Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) – encompasses a broad definition of autism that includes related disabilities. ASD negatively affects communication, social interaction and learning. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in 54 children are diagnosed with ASD in the United States each year, and many more exhibit some symptoms or are suspected of having the disorder. Early intervention is key to managing ASD.

Our skilled clinical staff and faculty experts are nationally
recognized and work closely with children and families to develop and
strengthen their communication skills. Our innovative programming is designed
to reflect current knowledge in the area of ASD, as well as the individual
needs of each child or adult.

The Preverbal Communication Program provides intensive communication
intervention for toddlers ages 18 months – 3 ½ years who are non-verbal or in
the early stages of developing the use of language. Children appropriate for
the program include those diagnosed with receptive/expressive language
disorder, ASD, developmental delay, or those who have difficulty producing
speech sounds, as well as those for whom the diagnosis is unclear.

A one-to-one ratio of clinician to child ensures that children have
adult support in their attempts to participate and communicate in group
activities and individual speech-language therapy.

Although speech-language pathologists individualize intervention to
meet the needs of each child, they also incorporate aspects of the SCERTS
approach (Prizant, 2006), Floor Time (Greenspan, 1998), the Hanen Program
(Sussman, 1999) and behavioral intervention with a developmental/relational
approach.

Includes a parent education component.

Cost: $90 per sessions (may be insurance eligible) + $150 nonrefundable enrollment fee due prior to the start of the program to secure enrollment.

Callier Dallas
