Summer Reading Camp is a 6-week program for children who are having difficulty learning to read. The camp will focus on decoding (reading), encoding (spelling), sight words and phonological awareness.
Our goal is to provide a fun yet intensive learning environment to build children’s reading skills. Clinicians will use a multisensory approach to teach phonics and phonemic awareness. Additionally, some instruction on reading comprehension will be provided in order to practice and support the reading experience as a whole.
The camp is staffed by UT Dallas graduate students under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist.
Enrollment Instructions: A 30-minute intake session must be scheduled in order to talk about your goals for your child, expectations for camp and complete paperwork. The cost of the intake is $50 and is not insurance eligible. A reading evaluation is not required, but it is helpful if one has already been completed and results can be sent. All campers will be screened on the first day of camp to determine goals.
