About the Luncheon
Hosted by the Foundation for the Callier Center, the Callier Cares Luncheon is the Callier Center’s signature annual fundraising event. The purpose of the luncheon is to raise resources through the Callier Care Fund to benefit children and adults who otherwise could not afford clinical care to overcome speech, language and hearing disorders.
Betsy and Bennett Cullum to Receive the 2021 Ruth and Ken Altshuler Callier Care Award
We are privileged to honor Betsy and Bennett Cullum with the Ruth and Ken Altshuler Callier Care Award. This award is presented annually to an individual or group who has contributed significantly to the betterment of the community and to advance the care of patients with communication disorders.
The Cullums have a distinguished history as advocates and supporters of the Callier Center and the community. A trustee on the Foundation for the Callier Center board since 2008, Bennett served as president from 2013 to 2015 and helped raise essential funds to build the Callier Center expansion at the UT Dallas campus in Richardson. Betsy co-chaired the 2014 Callier Cares Luncheon and led the event to a record fundraising level.
Barbara and John Stuart to be Honored with the 2020 Ruth and Ken Altshuler Callier Care Award
We are also delighted to honor Barbara and John Stuart, 2020 Callier Care Award recipients. Due to the pandemic, our celebration of this tremendous couple was disrupted last April, and we would like to take this opportunity to recognize them as well.
Proceeds Will Benefit Patients in Need through the Callier Care Fund
Ruth and Ken Altshuler created the Callier Care Fund to ensure that children and adults would have access to essential care regardless of their income level or insurance coverage. Because of the Altshuler’s benevolence, these patients have the opportunity to overcome speech, language and hearing disorders, so that they may hear, speak and connect with the world.
